Visiting Lisbon? A day tour suggestion!

Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, is considered one of the oldest cities in the world and one of the rare Western European cities that face the ocean. Although the country has been going through an awful economic situation, it’s still an important region in terms of entertainment, arts, finance, commerce and education, which makes it one of the most visited touristic places in Europe.

There are many beautiful places to visit in Lisbon and one of them is the city’s downtown area called ‘Baixa’. The region is formed by buildings with ground-floor commercial spots and upper floors for housing (picture below). It’s a good place to start the day.
Moving into the morning, there are other good places to go. The Belém Tower, along with the Jeronimos Monastery, is also another well known site to visit when passing by Lisbon. They are actually the city’s most visited and photographed landmarks, and have also been recognized as World Heritage Sites/Monuments (pictures below)

Belém is also the place to find the worldwide known custard tarts. These are the famous ‘pastéis de Belém’ as it’s commonly named and if Portugal had a taste, this would definitely be it. There is no other place in the world where you’ll find a custard tart as good as the ones they make there. People come from all over the world and might even stay hours in line just to taste it. It’s just amazing!

To contrast with the city’s old neighborhoods, there’s the contemporary ‘Parque das Nações’ (Nation’s Park), which is just perfect for an afternoon walk. It has a modern and eye-catching architecture and is known for hosting a variety of national and international events. It’s also popular due to its shopping centre, outdoor eateries, bars, casino and Oceanarium – one of the biggest, most innovative and high-tech aquariums in Europe (pictures below).

Because shopping is also part of everybody’s trip, the ‘Colombo’ and ‘Vasco da Gama’ malls are good places to visit. They are huge commercial centers, packed with well known brands and a variety of stores. To end the day, going out for some fun time would be a great option. For nightlife, ‘Bairro Alto’ is your final destination. The region is full of restaurants, bars and nightclubs, and the variety of music ranges from jazz to electronic, reggae and fado (Portugal’s traditional music). While staying in Lisbon, it’s also indispensable to taste the city’s famous codfish dishes, which is also traditional from Portugal. I’m sure you won’t regret it!!

There are many others places to visit in Lisbon such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, the Lisbon Zoo, the Saint George Castle, among others. If you’re staying in town for more time, you should definitely look into these as well. I hope you enjoyed the tour!

Cocoa Beach!!!! Florida

Cocoa Beach

Florida is full of natural fun loaded with lot of beaches including famous beaches like Miami south beach, Daytona beach, West palm beach and more...... But many few people know that there are few beautiful beaches in Florida which are not so popular but has a mark in history, one of those among them is Cocoa beach.

Cocoa beach is famous for its calm atmosphere, fun loving people in the town, happening downtown area and of course the scenic beauty it has. Cocoa beach is located nearby Orlando city and is very close to NASA. It has a beautiful pier with authenticate grills and bar & Restaurant. People enjoy doing fishing and are fond of doing different beach sport like beach volleyball, jet skiing, paragliding, etc.. I was lucky to go to Cocoa beach on a day which was perfect day to visit a beach, sunny atmosphere with lot of people and events happening. I had went there with one of my friend who was staying there for past couple of years, it was a good benefit for me as I got a chance to explore lot of new things on Cocoa beach, but even if I had nobody with me to help me exploring the place I figured out that  the place was in itself a immense pleasure to visit that anyone after going there can explore it differently and experience new surprises. Usually people only go to beach for lying down and relaxing with a drink in a hand, but after visiting Cocoa beach I felt like people here are too busy to participate in the beach events and surrender themselves for enjoying it to the full extent.

This is the picture taken from the pier which shows the beautiful scenery of beach and the city behind
Entry of the beach where you can see beach volleyball nets and pier on the back

One of best thing to know about this place is that it has lot of different food cuisines located near the pier. I am a foodie person so I had enjoyed spending the whole day at a beach which was different from lot of famous beaches in the world.
People on the pier ding fishing and chilling at the tiki bar

Side walk of the Cocoa beach

I was staying there in days inn hotel located behind the beach. I had experienced the best sunset view of my life from here.

Places to Go in Boston

Boston is the capital of the state of Massachusetts and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. September 7th, 1630 was the date that Boston was founded by Puritan colonists from England. According to 2011 the U.S. Census, there had an estimated population of 625,087 in Boston. Boston is also called Greater Boston based on its larger metropolitan area. With more than 50 colleges and universities within the city, Boston is an international center for higher education and medicine development. As you can see, the city is also adjacent to the water; it’s a peaceful water-front city that draws many tourists’ interests for traveling.

Duck Tours
If you are a visitor never toured Boston, “Duck Tours” can help you explore the city by visiting the golden-domed State House to Bunker Hill and the TD Banknorth Garden, Boston Common and Copley Square to the Big Dig, Government Center to fashionable Newbury Street, Quincy Market to the Prudential Tower and so on. One cool thing is about the “Duck”, it’s a two ways – tour that you can see things on the ground and the water. Check the website for the affordable tickets,        http://www.bostontours.us/?event=offer.detail&offerId=1144&startDate=11/01/2012&endDate=11/30/2012

Downtown Boston
Following by the Red Line of MBTA (Boston’s Major Subway Transportation), stop at the station of Downtown, you can find a beautiful skyline of the city. Boston’s public transportation is super convenient, which can be able to bring you to a lot of places where you want to go.

Museum of Fine Arts
I also suggest you to take a glance of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It’s one of the largest museums in the United States, attracting over one million visitors a year. Of course, and you will discover on the history of Boston and the United States, and the arts from all over the world. There are different shows, exhibits, performances sometime conducting in the Museum. Discount or free tickets for students with student IDs are available on some occasions. Here is the website for admissions, http://www.mfa.org/exhibitions/mario-testino?utm_source=google-grant&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=testino-in-your-face And, Green line E can take you to the museum.

Museum of Science
Museum of Science cannot be missed either. Since Boston homes to science and biotechnology, it’s definitely worth to test the high technology exhibits at the museum. I-Max movie is served and it's pretty amazing! It walks you to a whole view of different scientific origins. This is my most favorite about the Museum of Science. You wanna check out where else is also served at the museum?  http://www.mos.org/

Harvard Square
Take a chance to visit the world’s top university – Harvard University and its surrounding area- Harvard Square. The Square reflects the architectures of 18th New England and it’s a historic center of Harvard University. The Square functions are commercial enter purpose for Harvard students, the western Cambridge residents as well as tourists. You can see stores and restaurants located on the sides of the street. The students and residents normally use the Harvard Station on the MBTA Red Line Subway and bus transportation hub.

MIT Campus
I would say MIT campus is another nice spot if you’re thinking to travel to Boston. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is not only well known in its high rank among universities, but its campus architectures are unique designed and modern. Again, following the MBT read line to Central or Kendall/MT station; it should access you to the campus.

Charles River
The Charles River is an 80 mi (129 km) long river that flows in an overall northeasterly direction in eastern Massachusetts. The river travels through 22 cities and towns until reaching the Atlantic Ocean at Boston. The river is closed to the MIT campus, so the students or residents in the area sometime run by the Charles River or boat on the river. It’s an icon place in the city of Boston.
